The Department of Education recently proposed new Title IX regulations that would significantly impact how universities (including UChicago) address reports of sex-based discrimination on campus. We are now in a period called Notice and Comment. During this period, the Department of Education allows the public to submit comments on the proposed rulemaking, and they are required to substantially respond to comments made by the public in the final regulations. This is a really important time for the Department to hear from people impacted by these regulations, especially students. The full proposed rule is accessible here.
